Earlier this month, Braun representatives were proud to attend the Nashville Fire Department’s “Blessing of the Beast.” The Apparatus Honors Ceremony christened 7 new Braun Super Chief ambulances into service delivered in January. The ceremony was the first of its kind for ambulances at the department, and Braun was honored to be there.

Nashville Fire Department is one of the country’s largest fire & EMS departments. They respond to over 80,000 medical emergencies annually. At the ceremony, the Super Chief ambulances were assigned into service accordingly: Medic 3 to Station 3 at 850 Meridian Avenue, Medic 4 to Station 4 at 511 Harding Place, Medic 5 to Station 5 at 601 2nd Avenue South, Medic 10 to Station 10 at 15530 Old Hickory Boulevard, Medic 28 to Station 28 at 2394 Lebanon Road, Medic 29 to Station 29 at 4201 Gallatin Road, and Medic 41 to Station 41 at 105 Long Hollow Pike. Medic 5 was also dedicated in the memory of Paramedic Eddie Montgomery, who on January 14, 1980, serving on Medic 5, gave his life in an attempt to save others.

All seven of Nashville’s new Super Chief ambulances are identical. They feature a 171” module built on a 2015 Freightliner M2 chassis. They include LED interior and exterior strip lighting, transverse backboard storage, a diamond plate floor, a 5-point harness on the squad bench and CPR seat, exterior power distribution quarters, a custom radio cabinet, and a custom floor console.

Braun regional ambulance dealership, Emergency Equipment Professionals, worked with Nashville Fire Department to maintain the relationship on a local level. Sales Representative, Rob Cartee, helped facilitate the design and build process with Department representatives. A variety of other organizations were also consulted to help customize the vehicles according to NFD’s needs.

“It was a pleasure to work with the City of Nashville Fire Department on this project,” says Braun Regional Sales Manager, Eric Wilcox. “Chief Bryan Jones and the entire crew did an exceptional job of creating specs for their unit and ensuring the paramedics and EMTs of their department have the latest and greatest there is to offer in technology and safety. The units themselves are very custom and specific to the needs of the Nashville Fire Department. I and everyone here at Braun are looking forward to a long relationship with Nashville Fire Department.”
