While every year is an exciting one at the Fire Department Instructors’ Conference, it’s always a much anticipated event when we are set to debut a new model or product innovation. This year, we are gearing up to launch the E-Z 02 Lift. The compact oxygen cylinder lift and storage compartment will be shown on a Chief XL Type I demo ambulance. The unit will be on display in our booth, # 3357. Exhibit hall hours are as follows:

  • April 10th - 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm
  • April 11th - 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • April 12th - 9:00 am to 2:00 pm

Loading and unloading heavy oxygen bottles is a recurring job responsibility for EMTs and Paramedics. Unfortunately, it’s also a dangerous one. NAEMT statistics from 2012 report that 50% of all EMS workers suffer back pain annually, and one in every four EMS professionals will suffer a career-ending back injury. In an effort to improve on existing oxygen cylinder lifts in the market, and reduce back injuries and downtime, Braun engineers spent much time designing the new E-Z 02 Lift. The result is an oxygen cylinder lift and storage compartment with a smaller footprint than traditional lift options, and no cumbersome electrical components.

Braun President, Kim Braun, has the following to say about the new innovation:

Our industry is continuously seeking improvements and efficiency gains in crew safety and in the delivery of services to the patient.  The E-Z O2 Lift is already gaining widespread interest as a tool to aid in that pursuit.  Launching meaningful innovations that create value for the customer is just one element of our long-term vision of being THE premium ambulance provider, recognized for quality products focused on occupant safety.

The E-Z 02 Lift utilizes a nitrogen filled gas spring to raise and lower the bottle into a stowed position. The bottle is stored on the compartment door, optimizing the interior layout and creating maximum storage space for life-saving equipment. The spring lift also helps to reduce compartment damage by carefully moving and storing the oxygen cylinders in a controlled manner. The result is an innovation that helps you protect both your crew and your ambulance – a win-win for departments!

A cost-effective solution over competitor lift systems, the E-Z 02 Lift is available for integration into all Braun ambulance models. Departments concerned about the forthcoming NFPA 1917 standards are encouraged to include the E-Z 02 Lift option in their next emergency vehicle design and purchase. Those interested are encouraged to stop by FDIC Booth # 3357, or contact their local Braun ambulance dealer for a personal demo.
