Every emergency vehicle that leaves our doors is exciting for us. Our skilled team of production specialists work hard day-in and day-out to fabricate and assemble every unit in-house, to create a custom, handcrafted ambulance unlike any other in the marketplace. The pride that encompasses a finished vehicle is overwhelming, and when our customers feel that same sense of ownership and accomplishment when they receive their new Braun ambulance, it gives our job even more purpose and meaning.
One such department to celebrate the arrival of their latest emergency vehicle was Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida. Working with ambulance sales rep, Shawn Hunter of Ten-8 Fire Equipment, the hospital recently took receipt of a highly customized unit. The ambulance is a 2014 Braun Super Chief on a 2015 Freightliner 4 door M2 chassis.
“The ambulance was designed for pediatric and neo-natal transports and has some very specific and unique features. Having the opportunity to visit the NICU portion of the hospital was a neat experience and creates a greater appreciation for the things the truck will be used for. Some very unique features were integrated into this unit, my personal favorite is the ceiling. A graphic was installed to look like the sky including clouds and a sun. A lot of attention was paid to the details of the unit and it was an honor to be able to work through this process with Golisano and Ten-8,” says Braun’s Region 1 Sales Manager, Eric Wilcox.
In addition to an onboard Heat/AC unit, the emergency vehicle features a Domestic Penguin roof mounted Heat/AC unit. On the exterior, it also has a Whelen LED Warning Light package and custom graphics package. Similarly, custom graphics can be found on the interior; the module has a beach theme with images installed on the ceiling and walls to reflect that. The ambulance also includes a Mac’s Lift Gate for cot or isolette loading, medical air and oxygen bottle storage onboard, a Next-Gen generator, dual impact #324 suction units, curbside 5-point harness EVS seating, and a DVD/CD player with LCD screen installed over the rear doors.
Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida’s PICU Transport Team Coordinator, Niki Shimko, had the following to say about their new Braun ambulance:
Thank you does not even begin to express our gratitude for the wonderful ambulance you built for us. Being able to be part of the process was such an honor. The employees at Braun are like family and hands down some of the hardest workers and happiest workers I have ever seen. What you do makes a difference in people’s lives every day. Because of your great craftsmanship, the children and their families in our community and surrounding communities have access to specialized car and safe transportation. Thank you for all you have done.
