May 20 - 26, 2012, we join the rest of the nation in celebrating EMS Week 2012. EMS Week is a chance for us to take a moment and thank all the men and women in EMS for their dedication and service to their communities. As first responders, these individuals make an impact everyday on patients often facing life or death situations. They work hard and they truly care about their communities and the safety of the people in them. As this year's theme is "EMS: More than a job, a calling." it's worth noting that it takes a special person to work as an EMT or paramedic. We cannot thank them enough for all they do; words fall short of what an impact they have on all of us!

In honor of EMS Week 2012, we will be establishing a new email publication called "Built for Life - Built for You: News & Updates to Keep Our EMS Professionals Safe In Their Emergency Vehicles." The publication will focus on educational topics related to the EMS industry. More specifically, it will center on changes in ambulance safety and design, tips on picking the best ambulance for your organization, maintaining the life of your emergency vehicle, and more. With the new NFPA 1917 standards coming out, this is more timely than ever before.
