A big part of the excitement in buying a Braun ambulance is when customers get the opportunity to visit and take a personal tour of our manufacturing plant. However, we know not everyone in the department or organization gets a chance to do that. If you’ve ever wondered about what goes into building a custom ambulance at Braun Industries, or wanted to take a sneak peek inside our operation….now is your chance.
The video below walks you through the unique build process of a Braun ambulance, highlighting what sets us apart from other ambulance manufacturers. You’ll get an in-depth look at our 105,000 square foot facility in Van Wert, Ohio as Chad Brown, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, takes you through it, explaining each step along the way.
The History of Braun Ambulances Facility:
Braun Industries has been manufacturing ambulances for over 40 years. During that time, we have moved our facility several times to keep pace with our growing business and accommodate production needs. We started in Lithopolis, Ohio in 1972. There, built our first van ambulance. In 1976, we relocated to Oakwood, Ohio to a larger facility, where we stayed for over 20 years.
In May 2000, we broke ground on a new, state-of-the-art facility located in Vision Industrial Park in Van Wert, Ohio. Construction on the 76,000 square foot manufacturing and corporate office facility finished and we opened the building on January 2, 2011. Shortly thereafter, on November 10, 2002, a tornado tore through building. As a result, we had to replace the entire roof and 80% of the exterior walls.
In 2006, we expanded our Van Wert facility to include an additional 38,000 square feet of manufacturing space. This allowed us to enhance our vehicle production capabilities. Today, our facility spans over 105,000 square feet and includes some of the best equipment available to manufacture our custom ambulances that are “Built for Life.”
