EMS Week 2017 is coming up next week, and we have some great things planned for it! Each day, we’ll be posting an educational image to our Facebook page. Anyone who shares that image on their page will be entered to win a Braun Strong hoodie and travel mug. There will be a new winner every day; so be sure to like our Facebook page for your chance to win!

As part of the EMS Week festivities, Wednesday (May 24, 2017) is set aside to recognize Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Day. This is a very important day to help highlight the various aspects of caring for children and raise awareness on how to improve the care for them in prehospital and acute care settings. To dig in further, we’re spending some time starting this week to highlight some of our more recently delivered pediatric units. These Critical Care Transport ambulances were designed specifically for children, and we are proud to be the ambulance manufacturer to design and build them.

In 2014, we featured the first Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida unit on our blog and social media. We are proud to say that was not the last CCT ambulance built for the hospital in partnership with our Florida ambulance dealer, Ten-8 Fire Equipment. We recently delivered a 2016 Braun Responder. The interior of the vehicle features an EVS Folding Jump Seat for additional seating. More importantly, a fixed angled LCD Monitor and DVD system and eye catching, child-friendly graphics were added to the interior to make it a welcoming space for children of all ages. As you can see from the photos, the appearance of the ambulance was just as important to the hospital as the equipment included in it. Feeling comforted goes beyond the EMTs, nurses, and doctors at Golisano, and extends into every space their patients encounter. They go above and beyond to ensure their tiniest patients have a cheery space inside their facilities, or on the road from one to another while under their care.

Since late 2010, the hospital has been working on a $242 million project with the Lee Health Hospital System to build and move into a new facility. It raised $100 million in private money alone, and some of that went directly to the new ambulance unit. Just last week, Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida opened its new seven-story tower and relocated 82 patients from its old home inside HealthPark Medical Center. The new hospital has 128 beds and is filled with bright colors and images of happy, healthy children as part of its kid-friendly design. Each room is private and includes room for parents to stay overnight as well.

Congratulations to Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida on their new Braun Responder and amazing new facility. The children in their area are truly blessed to have such a fabulous hospital in their region, clearly dedicated to the emotional and physical wellbeing of their patients.
